Dauphin Island, AL is a Barrier Island located Three Miles South of the mouth of Mobile Bay. The Island is connected to the mainland by a Three Mile, high rise bridge. There are many attractions that keep locals and visitors coming back to Dauphin Island year after year. Ft. Gaines is a historic Fort, best known for its role in the Battle of Mobile Bay during the American Civil War. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is the primary Marine Education facility for Alabama. The Sea Lab features exhibits that feature the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile Bay, and other local wildlife areas. The Island is also home to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary. People flock from all over to witness the Spring and Fall Migrations. Dauphin Island has many year round residents, but the population increases during the warmer months with many people going to enjoy the wonderful Beaches, Fishing, and Scenery that Dauphin Island has to offer.
